JOHANNESBURG - After four years of its existence, ActionSA finally has a deputy president.

Mbahare Kekana has been appointed to the post.

Kekana is the leader and founder of the political party Forum 4 Service Delivery, which has now merged with ActionSA.

The two parties announced during a media briefing on Wednesday that they have decided to join hands and run for elections under one banner.

ActionSA has amended its constitution to create the position of deputy president, a role now occupied by Kekana.

Before this amendment, ActionSA had just two senior positions, which were president and national chairperson.

ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba said Kekana brings a wealth of expertise and experience to the party.

"Thanks to his academic journey, Dr Kekana is well equipped with a robust understanding of political science, constitutional law, administrative and human rights law. His drive to realise justice and deep commitment to advocating for sidelined communities defines his purpose in life."

ActionSA’s new deputy president holds a PhD in political science, a Master’s degree in governance, a Bachelor of Law degree and a Postgraduate Diploma in Management.

An independent study released in 2024 described him as the most qualified political leader in the country.
