JOHANNESBURG - ActionSA has not ruled out the possibility of merging with other like-minded political parties in preparation for the 2026 local government elections.

Reports emerged in December indicating the party had been holding informal discussions with Build One South Africa (BOSA) and Rise Mzansi.

The goal would be to campaign under a unified banner, increasing their chances of securing victory.

After its poor performance in last year's general elections, ActionSA has been developing strategies to emerge stronger in the next polls.

One of the possible key strategies is to merge with like-minded organisations and to address the fragmentation of the vote caused by the existence of several similar parties.

ActionSA leader, Herman Mashaba, said this would spare voters from facing excessively lengthy ballot papers.

"We have been having informal discussions, but they have not really resulted in anything yet. We hope, now with this new arrangement with Forum 4 Service Delivery, it’s going to be the start of us aggressively pursuing them and other parties."

Mashaba has, however, dismissed reports that ActionSA also engaged Patricia de Lille's Good Party.
