On Tuesday, the Gauteng government hosted a celebration breakfast in Midrand for the best-performing schools and pupils.
Education MEC Matome Chiloane said Lufhereng was an example of excellence in township-based schools.
"What is special about Lufhereng, is it’s a no-fee paying school and they have achieved a 97% bachelor pass and 100% pass. It’s a mobile school and it’s free, so you can tell people it’s free. Those who are paying R200,000 to R300,000 a year, they can bring their children there, take that money and bring it here to buy school uniforms and shoes for all the other learners."
