JOHANNESBURG - The matric class of 2024 is celebrating the historic pass rate for the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) and National Senior Certificate (NSC).

Some of the celebrations are happening at the National School of the Arts (NSA) in Johannesburg where a 99% pass rate has been obtained.

As one of only two public schools in the country with an art-focused curriculum, NSA has faced challenges, including funding shortages and outdated teaching resources.

Despite the many setbacks the NSA has remained resilient and it has triumphed.

Spirits are high among pupils as they collect their matric results with pride and optimism.

With a nearly perfect pass rate, these graduates are embracing the future with confidence.

It's a day of celebration and pride for South Africa's top-performing art school.
