CAPE TOWN - Joe Slovo Engineering High School is one of the top schools in the Western Cape with a matric pass rate of 99.3% for the class of 2024.
The Metro East district, which the school falls under, also came in first in Cape Town.

The Western Cape's matric class of 2024 has also excelled with a pass rate of 86.6%, the highest for the province to date.
The Joe Slovo Engineering School hall erupted with excitement as the provincial education MEC, David Maynier, announced the school's matric results for 2024.
The school achieved six distinctions in maths, 12 in technical maths and 18 in physical science.
"I asked the school principal: 'Does the school have a motto?' And he said: 'Yes, our motto is to strive for excellence'. Well, you have delivered excellence. Your pass rate is 99.3%," Maynier said.
Maynier congratulated the class of 2024 and the Metro East district on an outstanding achievement.
