JOHANNESBURG - The Airports Company of South Africa (ACSA) says it has taken steps to ensure that it is business as usual at OR Tambo International Airport.
This comes after a fire at the National Petroleum Refiners of South Africa (NATREF) refinery that serves the airport.
ACSA assured contingency measures were in place to ensure a steady supply of jet fuel for the busy airport, and said there was no reason to fret about services being disrupted.

ACSA explained over the weekend that they were working with the Fuels Industry Association of South Africa (FIASA) and with NATREF to alternative fuel sources to mitigate the possible impact of the disruption.
FIASA said it was working around the clock to ensure continued fuel supply to OR Tambo Airport, and that the distillation unit at the refinery should be back online in February.
The delivery of fuel by rail from Durban, and Matola in Mozambique, is being prioritised, and additional fuel is also being sourced from other airports.
