The department has issued a notice to all pupil transport services, through their various associations, to verify that their operations meet legal requirements and that their vehicles are fit for the road.

JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng Roads and Transport MEC, Kedibone Diale-Tlabela is cautioning scholar transport operators to be compliant with licensing regulations ahead of the start of the academic year.

The department has issued a notice to all pupil transport services, through their various associations, to verify that their operations meet legal requirements and that their vehicles are fit for the road.

Spokesperson for the department, Lesiba Mpya said that operators who do not possess valid operating licences will not be allowed to transport learners and their vehicles may be impounded.

"We will be not allowing illegality to happen on the roads, those that do not possess valid operating licenses will not be allowed to transport learners and may have their vehicles fined or impounded."
