JOHANNESBURG - The Ekurhuleni municipality said that it won't be increasing its level one water restrictions as it is satisfied with the rate of consumption from residents.
In December, the municipality imposed level-one restrictions throughout the city to reduce high levels of water consumption.
The restrictions are set to remain in place until March.
MMC for water and sanitation Thembi Msane said that the municipality has been working on fixing leaks and illegal connections to assist in reducing consumption.
"The level one restrictions will be up until the Lesotho Highlands (project) has been done until the end of March so as a city I would say to our people don't panic, there is no need to panic.
"Let's continue to do what we are doing, let's not water our gardens at peak times, let's not wash our cars with fresh drinking water, let's not fill up our swimming pools, but so far we have been doing very well. I don't foresee a crisis as the City of Ekurhuleni."
