Eyewitness News spent the day speaking to ANC supporters at the rally, and most had a thing or two to say about unemployment.
The latest figures show that more than 32% of South Africans are jobless, with Western Cape having the lowest unemployment rate.
Ramaphosa said despite the country being led by a multi-party government, the organisation’s plan to address unemployment will be implemented.
“We will indeed through the ability of our economy create wealth and employment for all.”
Khayelihle Nolokwe, a Cape Town resident, said after Ramaphosa’s speech, there is no reason to doubt that unemployment will be addressed.
“If the ANC can be put back in power in the Western Cape, there will be change, especially to eradicate unemployment among the young people. As you can see, a majority of people in this crowd are young people, and they’re unemployed.”
He believes if the ANC takes over the Western Cape, jobless young people will have a better chance of finding employment opportunities.
