The devastated family of the five-year-old boy said that nothing could bring back their son.
Three suspects briefly appeared in the Athlone Magistrates Court on Friday on charges of murder, two counts of attempted murder, and malicious damage to property.
Two other victims who sustained gunshot wounds during the rival gang shootout on Monday are recovering in hospital.
Meanwhile, Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis spoke to EWN at the boy's funeral.
"Just unbelievably difficult to go inside the house now and see the little body of Ameer. It's just indescribable, it's hard to find any words now that are worthy to say to his mom and dad there inside the house."
In the meantime, Western Cape police top brass have deployed more officers to pull illegal firearms from the streets of Manenberg.
