CAPE TOWN - The rollout of social grant services is under review in the City of Cape Town. 

Minister of Social Development Nokuzola Tolashe has descended on Delft to assess operations on Thursday.  

Several challenges, including late payments of grants to beneficiaries, have plagued the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) for some time.

Tolashe arrived at Rosendaal Secondary School, where she is meeting social grant beneficiaries in Delft.

Social grant recipients have filled the school hall to get assistance from the minister and her delegation. 

Since Thursday morning, SASSA officials have been helping recipients, answering questions and verifying personal details. 
 
There's a queue outside the school gates, where others await their turn for service.
 
Meanwhile, the Democratic Alliance (DA) in Western Cape said it hopes the minister's visit will result in tangible solutions, and not only serve as a political stunt that coincides with the African National Congress (ANC)’s birthday celebrations in Khayelitsha on Saturday.
