CAPE TOWN - President Cyril Ramaphosa says he's still considering whether he will attend the inauguration of newly-elected Mozambique president, Filipe Nyusi.
Ramaphosa has also expressed South Africa’s support for its Mozambique neighbour and regional trading partner, which was hit by widespread protests following the 2024 elections that were rejected by the opposition.

Ramaphosa was speaking at the African National Congress (ANC)’s fundraising golf day at the Rondebosch Golf Club in Cape Town.
"Now the 15th of January has been set as the day of inauguration. Mozambique is our neighbour; we always attend each other’s inaugurations. So as the day advances, we will look at our programme and see the extent to which the programme is well aligned with our various activities."
Ramaphosa said he was hoping to attend the inauguration of Ghana's president-elect John Dramani Mahama on Thursday, but this coincided with the ANC’s birthday celebrations.
