JOHANNESBURG - Some political analysts believe that Mbuyiseni Ndlozi’s resignation from Parliament is to make way for newly elected Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leaders.

On Thursday morning, the party accepted the voluntary resignations of Ndlozi and Yazini Tetyana from their parliamentary seats.

This brings an end to Ndlozi’s ten-year streak as a parliamentary representative for the EFF.

Ndlozi was not re-elected to the party’s central command team (CCT) at the EFF’s recent national elective conference.

The CCT is the organisation’s highest decision-making body in between conferences.

Political analyst, Vusi Gumbi, said that Ndlozi quitting Parliament was expected.

"He may have not been pushed out but I don’t think he was going to be an effective EFF MP knowing he is not in any leadership structure of the EFF, so I think, for him, it was a wise decision because chances are they were going to frustrate him one way or another and maybe it’s a way of saying 'I am willing to resign from Parliament to make way for others who are in the CCT.'"

Political sciences lecturer, Dr Levy Ndou, has echoed those sentiments, saying most parties deploy people in their top leadership to represent them in legislatures.
