ANC Treasurer-General Gwen Ramokgopa calls on businesses to 'fund democracy'

CAPE TOWN - African National Congress (ANC) Treasurer-General Dr Gwen Ramokgopa has called on businesses to fund democracy by donating to parties.
Speaking at the ANC’s Progressive Business Forum golf fundraiser in Rondebosch, Cape Town on Thursday, Ramokgopa said businesses don’t fund political parties as much as they used to due to the economy.

But she said the party remains grateful that the event, where packages go for over R500,000 each, is also sold out.
"This is an opportunity to make work and dialogue. We want and we call on businesses to fund democracy because it is our common democracy but let them fund to the extent that they can. We are very grateful, and we wish them well with the president."
