Westbury residents gather outside local clinic demanding answers to pregnant woman’s death

JOHANNESBURG - Some residents of Westbury are gathering outside the local clinic on Wednesday morning, demanding answers following the death of a pregnant mother who died there last week.
Thirty-two-year-old Mirriam Singh had gone to the clinic to give birth when she died.

A post-mortem revealed she had an underlying condition.
However, Singh’s partner, Chris Goliath, said he does not believe the contents of the report.
“We want answers for the death of my girlfriend and unborn son - my healthy girlfriend and unborn son. We want the truth because they are hiding too much.
“There’s too many lies around the death of my girlfriend and unborn son that the government is telling us. They are telling us a lot of lies.”
The Department of Health said the postmortem results confirm that Singh’s death cannot be blamed on health professionals at the hospital.
