JOHANNESBURG - The family of Mirriam Singh, the expectant mother who died at the Westbury Clinic, is questioning the validity of the postmortem.

Thirty-two-year-old Singh had gone to the clinic last week to give birth when she suddenly died.

The Department of Health said her death was caused by an underlying condition and not the negligence of staff.

This is the second protest by the Westbury community seeking answers following Singh’s death.

Her family said they do not believe the contents of the report, which found a rupture in Singh’s stomach resulted in her death.

It also listed that she had a kidney and pancreas condition.

Singh's brother, Enver Solomons, said it is concerning that she was not previously diagnosed with these conditions.

“They have given us a postmortem report which looks really crooked – that thing looks like it’s been doctored, so we just need some answers from the clinic itself. The two sisters who worked on my sister, I don’t know if they are here, if they are then they are hiding.”

The Department of Health said it would not comment further on the case.
