A majority of residents in Hammanskraal have always harboured distrust for the water quality from their taps.
This was at an all-time high in 2023 when the cholera outbreak hit the area, killing over 40 people.
Resident, Philipine Kubaye: "It's been a long time that we have been struggling with water but I'm very happy now that the struggle is over."
Another Hammanskraal resident, Margaret Mabelegapoo, said that the return of clean water would make her life easier.
"We are now going to be able to wash our clothes, drink the water and flush our toilets. The toilets were a huge issue for us."
Some residents, who spoke anonymously, told EWN they don't trust that the water was safe.
