TSHWANE - For the first time in about 20 years, residents in some parts of Hammanskraal will have clean, drinking water flowing from their taps.
Residents from Pretoria's northern town have had to deal with polluted water for a very long time.
On Wednesday, the Tshwane municipality announced it had successfully installed the portable Magalies Water treatment plant.
The plant supplies water to the city’s Wards 49, 73, 74 and 75 in and around the Hammanskraal area.
Speaking at the water plant's site on Wednesday morning, Tshwane Mayor Dr Nasiphi Moya said Wednesday marked a momentous occasion.
"What I can assure you today, we are coming here to announce to the residents of Tshwane and Hammanskraal that the first module is complete, that the water flowing in the taps of the areas supposed to benefit from the first module is fit for consumption."
