CAPE TOWN - The Western Cape's unemployed youth are encouraged to take part in the YearBeyond programme, which offers a year's practical experience.
The province's cultural affairs department said that those between 18 and 25 were best placed to enrol in this programme, which offers valuable working experience while giving back to their communities.
MEC Ricardo Mackenzie said that youth unemployment and disillusionment was a persistent problem.
"I want to encourage all recent matriculants who do not yet have a next step planned to apply for this opportunity. They will not only gain work experience but will also have a chance to develop soft skills which will enable them to unlock future employment opportunities."
