Marshalltown residents remain in the dark after cable theft incidents damage City Power's infrastructure

JOHANNESBURG - Residents and businesses have been left in the dark in Marshalltown following incidents of cable theft that caused damage to City Power's infrastructure.
Some buildings in the area were forced to buy generators to sustain their businesses and keep the lights on.

The area has been without power since December last year.
One resident has complained that the building he lives in has not been able to afford a generator, forcing families to live in the dark.
"All these streets have been affected actually. They've been affected, all of them. City Power has been coming in saying that okay, they are putting in a cable that was stolen long time ago. After that, they send another memo saying 'okay, guys we'll be doing maintenance.'"
