KZN Transport Dept identifies truck driver involved in collision that claimed 17 lives on Van Reenen's Pass
It's understood that the driver fled the scene of the accident that claimed 17 lives, prompting a full probe into the accident.

JOHANNESBURG - The KwaZulu-Natal transport department has revealed that a truck driver involved in a multi-vehicle crash on the N3 on Van Reenen's Pass on Monday night is a 37-year-old Zimbabwean national.
It's understood that the driver fled the scene of the accident that claimed 17 lives, prompting a full probe into the accident.
The truck was involved in the deadly pile-up with a taxi and a light motor vehicle, forcing the closure of the economic corridor on Monday night into Tuesday morning.
KwaZulu-Natal transport department spokesperson, Ndabezinhle Sibiya: "There have been conflicting reports on the whereabouts and the details of the truck driver. We wish to report that according to our investigation, the truck driver is a foreign national, Mr N Mbedezi, a 37-year-old from Zimbabwe. At the time of the collision, it was raining heavily, it was dark and very misty. The truck belongs to Pangolin Logistics."
