CAPE TOWN - The City of Cape Town Safety and Security MMC JP Smith has praised the collaboration between police and law enforcement this past festive season to fight crime in the city.
Smith on Tuesday addressed the Ministerial Crime Prevention Engagement gathering at Avondale Primary School in Atlantis.
The small West Coast town has been plagued by deadly gang-related shootings recently.

In August last year, the three spheres of government officially signed a cooperation agreement to share resources and enhance crime-fighting efforts in the province.
Smith said the results of this partnership were evident during the festive season.
"That was nowhere visible than early on when Police Minister Senzo Mchunu and I attended a roadblock in Symphony Way and we had a runner who attempted to flee the roadblock. It was a close contest between SAPS and Law Enforcement for who was going to arrest him first, and in the end, it was a joint arrest. That was very good to see that level of cooperation."
