WESTERN CAPE ACCIDENT TALLY
Meanwhile, Western Cape's Mobility MEC, Isaac Sileku, said that no family should have to endure the loss of a loved one due to preventable car crashes.
The province recorded over 120 road deaths during the festive season, with 51 pedestrians killed and 21 classified as hit-and-run cases.
The N1 route has been identified as a hotspot for the majority of these accidents. Sileku pointed to reckless driving and unnecessary speeding as the primary causes.
