DURBAN - Eastern Cape premier Oscar Mabuyane has lauded law enforcement agencies in the province for arresting the last suspect linked to the Lusikisiki massacre.  

Eighteen relatives were shot and killed in Ngobozana village in the rural area last year and police arrested seven suspects, including a prisoner, for the killings.

The last and remaining suspect at large was nabbed in Qonce and appeared before the Lusikisiki Magistrates Court on Monday.

"I want to appreciate the work done by our law enforcement agencies, for their tireless effort in bringing the perpetrators to justice and ensure that justice prevails," said Mabuyane.

The trial of seven men charged with the murder of 18 people in Lusikisiki is set to be heard in the Lusikisiki Regional Court for two weeks, resuming on 17 February to 28 February 2025.
