Case against cop accused of Chesnay Keppler murder postponed

JOHANNESBURG - The case against an Eldorado Park police officer who is accused of murdering his girlfriend has been postponed 26 February.
Mandla Buthelezi made his first appearance at the Protea Magistrates Court on Monday.
He is accused of the shooting and killing of 22-year-old Gauteng crime warden Chesnay Keppler after a domestic dispute on Boxing Day.

After the attack, Buthelezi shot himself, attempting to take his own life, but survived.
He was hospitalised under police guard but has since been discharged.

“The court case against the Eldorado Park SAPS [South African Police Service] member, accused of killing his 22-year-old girlfriend has been postponed to 26 February 2025. The Protea Magistrates Court postponed the matter to allow for further investigation.”
