Cape of Good Hope SPCA sterilises over 6,000 animals to curb pet overpopulation
The organisation said it would intensify its sterilisation drives this year across communities in Cape Town to make an even bigger impact.

CAPE TOWN - The Cape of Good Hope SPCA said it reached a major milestone in its fight against animal cruelty in 2024, sterilising over 6,000 animals to tackle pet overpopulation.
SPCA spokesperson, Belinda Abrahams, said their work proactively prevents the birth of unwanted animals and reduces cruelty at its roots.

"By the end of 2024, we had sterilised over 6,000 animals to proactively prevent the births of thousands of unwanted animals. Sterilisation means we are winning the fight against animal cruelty before it even begins. This offensive against pet overpopulation will continue with an aggressive focus in 2025."
