The arrest occurred after police received a tip-off about an armed individual walking on Ivoorhout Street on Friday.

CAPE TOWN - In a bid to combat gang violence in the Cape Flats, Western Cape police have arrested a suspect in Delft who was found in possession of two unlicensed firearms and ammunition.  

The arrest occurred after police received a tip-off about an armed individual walking on Ivoorhout Street on Friday.  

Provincial South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Wesley Twigg has confirmed that the man is expected to appear in the Bellville Magistrates Court on Monday.

"The suspect fitting the description was apprehended and searched, and the members found a 9mm pistol, a .38 special revolver, and a knife in his possession. He was arrested for the illegal possession of firearms and possession of a dangerous weapon."
