Warning issued for heavy rain, thunderstorms in Gauteng over the weekend

JOHANNESBURG - A yellow level two warning has been issued for severe thunderstorms and heavy downpours in Gauteng.

The South African Weather Service said that the wet conditions would will continue well into the weekend.

Forecaster Samkelisiwe Thwala: "Weather-wise for today, we are starting off with mostly cloudy conditions over the province. There's also the possibility of isolated showers and thundershowers expected during the course of the day over most parts of the province today. We also have a yellow level two warning for severe thunderstorms that is basically accompanied by large amounts of small hail, damaging winds and as well as heavy downpours that can be expected for today."
