Underlying condition contributed to pregnant woman’s death at Westbury Clinic - Gauteng Health Dept

JOHANNESBURG - The Gauteng Department of Health says a pregnant woman who died at Westbury Clinic had an underlying condition that contributed to her sudden death.
On Sunday, Mirriam Singh died shortly after being admitted to the clinic to give birth.

Since then, her family has demanded answers from the department, raising concerns of suspected medical negligence.
A post-mortem report, concluded on Thursday, ruled out any malpractice on the clinic's part.
"The internal report found that the correct protocols were followed by the healthcare workers in attendance," said department spokesperson Motalatale Modiba.
"The post-mortem report has revealed that the patient had a serious underlying condition which contributed to the deterioration of their condition within a short space of time after presenting at our health facility."
