JOHANNESBURG - The man who allegedly shot and killed Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) officer, Constable Ramaabele Mothapo, has been revealed as her former boyfriend, John Manyaba.

Manyaba is alleged to have shot and killed Mothapo on Christmas Eve at her Lotus Gardens home in Pretoria West.

Manyaba made a brief first appearance at the Pretoria Magistrates Court on Friday.

Dressed in a plain black T-shirt and black jeans, Manyaba was subdued throughout his brief court appearance.

He kept his head low, avoiding the glare and cameras of the media gathered in court.

The case could not move forward, as the State was still waiting for his charge sheet to be transferred from Limpopo.

After allegedly killing Mothapo, Manyaba took her car and fled to Limpopo, where he was later apprehended by police.

"The police must take him back to Lebowakgomo and return with the accused as well as with the charge sheet," said State prosecutor Sipho Letsoalo.

"What we intimated would happen, and it has not yet happened because it’s inter-provincial, the directors of public prosecutions must come together in terms of Section 110 to do that arrangement for consolidation of cases."

The matter has been adjourned to 22 January for a bail application.
