Eastern Cape DA calls for swift arrest of Gqeberha cop killer

CAPE TOWN - The Democratic Alliance (DA) in the Eastern Cape is calling on the police minister to offer a big reward for anyone who can provide information about the killers of a police officer in Gqeberha.
Police reports said the deceased officer and colleague were conducting patrols in Helenvale on Tuesday when the officer was suddenly shot in the head.
The 29-year-old Callan Andrews worked as a constable at Gelvandale Police Station.

The DA said more officers and policing resources were needed in the northern areas of Nelson Mandela Bay.
The party's spokesperson, Yusuf Cassim, said the murder of police officials was unacceptable.
"We implore all law enforcement agencies to act swiftly, bringing those responsible to justice and ensuring they are put behind bars to face the full force of the law."
