CAPE TOWN - Thirty people have been left homeless after two separate fires in informal settlements in Cape Town.
 
Fires in Imizamo Yethu in Hout Bay and Taiwan in Khayelitsha left a trail of destruction on Thursday.

So far, the city has recorded 11 fires in informal settlements in Cape Town over the last two weeks.
 
The City of Cape Town said that 21 people were displaced at Mandela Road in Imizamo Yethu after two informal structures were destroyed by a fire.

The blaze started at around 4pm in the afternoon.
 
Fire officials said that the cause of the fire was unknown at this stage.
 
In an unrelated incident, nine others are homeless after a fire tore through the Taiwan informal settlement in Khayelitsha.
 
The city said that three shacks and three cars were damaged in the inferno.
 
The cause of this fire has also not yet been established.
