CAPE TOWN - The country's recent water woes are trickling into the Western Cape.
The Overstrand District Municipality, which covers the coastal towns of Kleinmond and Hermanus, is pleading with residents to use water sparingly.
The public appeal surfaces seven years since the province's worst drought in a century. At the time, the province seemed to approach Day Zero - which meant taps would run dry across the board.
Whilst there are no permanent water restrictions for the Overstrand district, municipal officials have warned locals not to water their gardens between 9am and 5pm.

Just before Christmas, the council informed residents of low water pressure in Onrus and Vermont.
As more tourists flocked to the coastal towns to ring in the new year, it emerged the Kleinmond Water Treatment Works was struggling to keep up with the high water demand
Still, about a year ago, the Overstrand District Municipality was awarded for supplying the best-quality drinking water in the country.
