Last week, a Hawks officer was arrested for allegedly murdering his wife in Stellenbosch.
This is one of three cases involving law enforcement officers who were arrested for either assaulting or murdering their partners.
Peters said it’s heart-wrenching to see such incidents play out over this festive season.
“This incident underscores the urgent need for accountability and scrutiny within law enforcement. It is devastating to see that those entrusted, officers entrusted with upholding justice, perpetrating such crimes.”
