JOHANNESBURG – As the New Year approaches, Johannesburg residents are advised to adhere to the city's by-laws when using fireworks.
The Emergency Management Services (EMS) reminds residents to purchase fireworks only from authorised dealers and use them exclusively in outdoor areas.
EMS spokesperson Xolile Khumalo has reminded parents not to let children under 16 handle fireworks without supervision.
“Please ensure you do not ignite fireworks near schools, agricultural holdings or factories that store explosives or petrol stations.”
Khumalo further warns that those who fail to follow these regulations will face fines.
Fireworks are traumatic to our fury friends - dogs and cats.
