DA opens crimen injuria case against unruly FlySafair passenger
The incident, which was widely circulated on social media, shows a female passenger refusing to comply with orders from cabin crew on a flight from Durban to Cape Town.

CAPE TOWN – The Democratic Alliance (DA) has opened a case of crimen injuria against an airline passenger who allegedly hurled racist slurs at a flight attendant.
A report into the incident on a Boxing Day flight has been handed to law enforcement for further investigation.

The incident, which was widely circulated on social media, shows a female passenger refusing to comply with orders from cabin crew on a flight from Durban to Cape Town.
DA Western Cape leader Tertuis Simmers joined other DA representatives to meet the flight attendant at Bishop Lavis SAPS on Monday.
Simmers said the SAPS had also opened a case of assault after listening to the flight attendant's statement.
"Today, the DA in the Western Cape took swift and decisive action by laying a charge of crimen injuria against the FlySafair passenger who hurled racist slurs toward the coloured community. Ultimately, the bold, proactive approach by the DA sends a powerful message: racism will not be tolerated," said Simmers.
