JOHANNESBURG - Police said they were trying to track down a constable who has been linked to a murder case in Protea Glen, Soweto.
The suspect, associated with the Railway Protection and Security Services at Park Station, is on the run after he allegedly shot and killed a man on Thursday.
It's understood the victim was in his home with his brother when he received a phone call asking him to come outside.
When he did, the victim was then shot, allegedly by the caller, who was in full police uniform.
The officer is said to have then fled the scene in a silver Toyota Etios.
Spokesperson for the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) Lizzy Suping said: "On the day of the incident, the accused officer was supposed to report for night duty at his work base, which is Park Station, but never arrived at work.
"IPID has taken over the investigation, and a murder case has been opened as a search for the accused officer is ongoing."
