CAPE TOWN - The City of Cape Town says it's urging parents and caregivers to have children tagged as part of its Identikidz programme when visiting beaches because the system works.

This week, 169 lost children were reunited with their families as Cape Town recorded some of its busiest beach days.

City mayco member for community services and health, Patricia van der Ross, said that more than 25,000 children were tagged at various beaches.

"It is easy for young children to lose sight of where their family is located and get lost in the crowds. Parents and caregivers can rest assured that their information is confidential and is only used when their child is lost. Help us to keep your little ones safe."
