JOHANNESBURG - Three men are expected to appear in a North West court on Friday on a charge of attempted murder.

The men handed themselves over to police following a video circulating online that showed them assaulting and stabbing the owner of a day resort in Orkney on Monday.

It is alleged an altercation ensued after the trio received multiple warnings to stop smoking "hubbly bubbly", hookah pipe, which wasn’t allowed in the resort.

The owner was rushed to hospital, where he was treated in ICU.

“The acting provincial police commissioner, Major General Patrick Asaneng, expressed his gratitude for identifying and arresting the suspects,” said police spokesperson Adele Myburgh.

“He reiterated that criminal behaviour will not be tolerated during this festive season."
