CAPE TOWN - In the Mossel Bay municipal area, a lightning-induced wildfire was detected on Robinson Pass late Thursday night, initially burning with high intensity on the western side of the pass.

The Garden Route District Municipality said the area is currently covered in mist.

CapeNature, Oudtshoorn, and Mossel Bay teams are monitoring the blaze, which remains active higher up on the mountain.

Officials said favourable weather conditions are forecasted for later Friday afternoon, with an expected 2 millimetre of rain, which may help extinguish this wildfire.
