JOHANNESBURG - Ethekwini residents can expect some relief from recent water cuts after the municipality decided to lift some of its restrictions.
In October, the metro implemented intermittent water supply restrictions due to increased demand.
The restrictions saw residents without water for several hours a day, leaving them dependent on water tankers.

The decision followed a meeting between Department of Water and Sanitation Minister Pemmy Majodina and Mayor Cyril Xaba on Wednesday.
Majodina said despite the lifting of the restrictions, the system remained vulnerable, and appealed to communities to use water sparingly.
Departmental spokesperson Cornelius Monama said the supply system was being closely monitored.
"It was agreed that the curtailments will be lifted with immediate effect until mid-January while the department continues to monitor the Umngeni water supply system, which supplies the municipalities. The storage capacity of the Umngeni water supply system has improved to 85%, owing to the recent rainfall experienced in the catchment."
