A suspect has been arrested for fatally shooting and killing a Tshwane metro police officer in Pretoria West.

JOHANNESBURG - A suspect has been arrested for fatally shooting and killing a Tshwane metro police officer in Pretoria West. 

It is alleged that the officer was killed by her significant other in her home at Loftus Gardens on Tuesday evening.

Metro police said that the suspect fled the scene using the victim's car but was later found and arrested in Limpopo.

Tshwane Metro Police Department spokesperson, Isaac Mahamba: "The details leading to this tragedy is unknown and the case is currently being investigated by South African Police Services. The identity of the deceased TMPD member cannot be disclosed at this stage until we are certain that the family and relatives are formally notified."
