JOHANNESBURG - Three men will on Friday appear before the Orkney Magistrates Court, in the North West, to face charges of attempted murder.
It is alleged that the suspects were at a day resort smoking a "hubbly bubbly" or hookah and subsequently warned multiple times by the staff that it was not allowed.
The staffers escalated the matter to the owner of the resort after the group became aggressive.
It is alleged that upon further warnings, the trio assaulted and stabbed the owner with a knife multiple times.
The owner was rushed to hospital where he was treated in an intensive care unit.
Police spokesperson Adele Mynurgh: "Three suspects between the ages of 30-40 will appear before the Orkney Magistrates Court on Friday the 27th of December on the charge of attempted murder. The court appearance came after they handed themselves over to the police on Tuesday.
“It is alleged that the trio on Monday assaulted the 53-year-old owner of a day resort in Orkney. Video footage of this incident was shared on numerous social media platforms and the public is, once again, requested to refrain from circulating unverified information, and to use social media responsibly as this can hamper police investigations."
