Hammanskraal water crisis: Don't drink tap water for now - Tshwane
Residents have been battling with unclean water since a Cholera outbreak that claimed 40 people's lives in June last year.

JOHANNESBURG - The City of Tshwane is urging residents of Hammanskraal to refrain from drinking the unclean water coming out of their taps until it is safe to do so.
Residents have battled access to clean water for years, and this was worsened by the recent cholera outbreak that claimed 40 people's lives in June last year.

The city is currently in the process of concluding the first of a four-phase plan to address the long-standing water crisis.
Authorities expect to supply clean drinking water to all areas of Hammanskraal by mid-2025,
The following areas are planned to be the first to receive clean water in the initial phase of the project; Mandela village, Marokolong Ramotshe, Kekana Gardens, Steve Bikoville, Kudube Unit 9, Babelegi Industrial Park and Bridgeview Informal Settlement.
"City of Tshwane, in partnership with the Department of Water and Sanitation and the Gauteng Province, is pleased to announce significant progress in the project to provide clean potable water to the Hammanskraal community," said Tshwane Mayor Nasiphi Moya.
"Our teams are currently conducting final tests and will announce when the water is safe for consumption."
