JOHANNESBURG - Cast and crew members from the BET drama series, Queendom, celebrated a bleak Christmas with no pay.
Earlier this month, employees from the TV show wrote an open letter addressing various bodies that could help them with their non-payment plight for the past two months.
Eyewitness News understands that cast and crew members were promised their pay by production companies BET Africa and Clive Morris Productions (CMP) before Christmas, but were given a statement of apology explaining that the company could not meet their deadline of 23 December.
Cast member Halala Sabela complains that the strife is not just affecting them but also their families.
"CMP, which is the production company that does Queendom, has not been paying people. They've been late with our payments all the time and such treatment is not right, especially now during the festive season. All our families are waiting on us to take care of them, and we can't even make any plans."
EWN is still awaiting comment from CMP and BET Africa.
