Humanitarian aid organisation, Gift of the Givers, has deployed teams to the fire-stricken areas to assist those affected.
The organisation's Ali Sablay said the families needed all the assistance they could get during this period.
"So our needs at the moment are blankets, mattresses, personal hygiene items, and baby care packs. Going into the new year, we would like to purchase [for] each child in all the informal settlements we are involved in new school uniforms and stationery. Once the families are back in their homes, we will supply each family with a food hamper."
