Nomzamo informal settlement fire claims one life

CAPE TOWN - A man has died in an informal settlement fire near Strand.
Fire crews battled through the night to bring the blaze under control at Wag 'n Bietjie informal settlement in Nomzamo last night.
Cape Town Fire's Jermain Carelse: "At around 1 o'clock, an emergency call was received of informal structures alight in Richmond Street in Nomzamo on Tuesday, the 24th of December. Several crews were os cene to contain the blaze, which was fanned by a strong south-easter. By 5.30, the fire was extinguished and several structures were destroyed."
