BMA: Parts of Mozambique unstable but Lebombo operations not affected

JOHANNESBURG - The Border Management Authority (BMA) has confirmed that there is instability in some parts of Mozambique, however, it has highlighted that this has not affected its operations.
The BMA has been monitoring the Lebombo border between Mpumalanga and Mozambique after the country's constitutional council confirmed the disputed results of recent elections on Monday, declaring the Frelimo party as victorious.

There were fears of violent protests near the border following the announcement, prompting an overnight operation at the post.
"It started during the course of yesterday [Monday] afternoon, and it has actually continued overnight. One thing that is very much clear and real is that the corridor on the Mozambican side is very much unstable.
"The good thing is the protest did not come to Ressano Garcia and affected the processing on the Mozambican side. So, on that basis, we are continuing to process the movement of people because there is not any challenge as far as that part is concerned."
