JOHANNESBURG - The Eastern Cape has been dubbed the country's capital for insurance-related murder cases.
The province has a record of 67 incidents of this nature.
This was revealed by Police Minister Senzo Mchunu at a Safer Festive Season campaign in the Eastern Cape on Sunday.
"Through intelligence and skilled detective work, police in the province have been able to identify this emerging crime trend which involves murdering people for insurance-related payouts or claims. Police have been able to identify stations where high number of these insurance-related murders are being reported."
