JOHANNESBURG - Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa says his department has saved R16.6 billion this year compared to the same period last year.
This is attributed to the reduction of diesel use in eight months.
Ramokgopa briefed the media in Pretoria on Monday about the energy action plan and its implementation - among other things.

The department says it has seen an increase in the use of diesel from the beginning of April to the 19 December, owing to unscheduled breakdowns.
Ramokgopa says once the cost associated with diesel is reduced, Eskom will become a more efficient generator of electricity.
The future will see more tariff applications because of Eskom's efficiency.
According to the minister said putting the saved R16 billion - taxpayers' money - will benefit the country's economy.
